With the threat of a long suspension behind Broncos WR Brandon Marshall for now, his agent, Kennard McGuire reportedly showed up at team headquarters Monday and tried to reopentalks about a new contract for Marshall.
Marshall, who was found not guilty of misdemeanor battery on Aug.14, has one year left on his deal and is due to make $2.2 million before it expires.
The Denver Post reports that the Broncos told McGuire they were not interested in opening negotiations on a new contract. Upon hearing that, McGuire again requested his client be traded to anotherteam, but team officials said he would not be traded.
According to the Post, Broncos chief operating officer JoeEllis then apologized to Marshall for the team's response to him being exonerated in court. Citing a source, the Post report indicates a teammate told Marshall a member of the team's public relations staff had been telling players "don't say you're happy for Brandon (if he's found not guilty). Say it's good for the organization that this is behind us."
